Cello Fury

Do you like the sound of cello’s rocking out with drums? You need to check out Cello Fury.

A good friend of mine introduced me to this band a few years back. I needed something to listen to while writing. This band nails it. They consist of three cello players (Nicole Myers, Simon Cummings and Ben Muñoz) with a rock drummer (David Throckmorton).

They have two albums out:

Cello Fury, released in 2011
Symphony of Shadows, released in 2013

Check out their official YouTube page.

Now, where shall I tell you to start? I want to give you an epic experience. You will find it with this band. Grab an album and go for a walk, you’ll feel like you just embarked on the adventure of a life time.

Speaking of adventure, there was something about the music that was so overwhelmingly adventurous, that it reminded me of something I’d heard before. I couldn't quite put my finger on it until one day it came to me. It reminded me of Zelda II, The Adventure of Link. Specifically the Battle Area music. Sure, that music was on 8 bit Nintendo, but it still offered that sense of adventure. I mean, adventure was in the title.

Honestly, I’d start with the first album and let it go, but check out Against All Odds, then either Infinity Rises or Odyssey.

The second album is fantastic as well. Two of my favorites would have to be The Fury and Turmoil.

I can’t tell you how talented these folks are. The cello players began playing together as students at Carnegie Mellon University and Duquesne University. Who says academia is pointless?

Check them out and make your day a bit more epic.

I love music. An adventure needs its soundtrack. Where ever I travel, I have a song to accompany me. This is a blog about some of my favorite songs.
